In this article, we’ll show you how to transfer airtime from Airtel to Airtel as well as other things like what the Airtel Me2U service is all about, how to activate your Airtel transfer PIN, and how to use Airtel’s airtime credit me service.
What is Airtel Me2U Service?
The only known way you can transfer airtime from Airtel to Airtel is through the Airtel Me2U service, and what is this service all about?
Just as its name suggests, the Airtel Me2U service is a service that allows Airtel users to transfer airtime to their loved ones, family, and their friends who are also Airtel users without having to pay for extra charge.
For instance, if you have an airtime balance of ₦500 on your Airtel sim card, through the Airtel Me2U service, you can transfer a portion of that balance to another Airtel user and that user’s balance will be topped up immediately.
It is worthy to note that while Airtel users are allowed to transfer airtime to users of other types of sim cards, they can’t do it through the Airtel Me2U service. This service only works among Airtel users.
How to activate your Airtel transfer PIN
Before you can start transferring airtime from your Airtel sim card to another Airtel sim card, you would need an Airtel transfer PIN. This transfer PIN is usually unique to an Airtel user and can be used by that user to authorize any request for airtme transfer. How then can you activate your Airtel transfer PIN?
The default Airtel transfer PIN is “1234.” However, this PIN is only a default PIN and cannot be used to authorize airtime transfer. To activate your Airtel transfer PIN, you have to change it from the default PIN to a new one. There are two ways you can do this; through USSD code and through text message.
Through USSD code
To change your Airtel transfer PIN from default to a new one using Airtel’s USSD code, simply:
- Dial *321# on your mobile device
- A list of options will be shown to you. Select option 4 which is for “PIN Management”
- Select option 1 for “Change of PIN”
- You will be asked to enter your default PIN. Your default PIN is “1234”
- Once you’ve entered your default PIN, you will be asked to input a new four digit code which would be your new PIN
- Press OK to confirm your new PIN
Once you are done with this steps, you will receive a message that confirms that you have changed your transfer PIN
Through text message
To change your Airtel transfer PIN from default to a new one using text message, simply:
- Locate the message icon on your mobile device and create a new message
- Type in the following: PIN – your default PIN – your new PIN (without the hyphens) and send the message to “321.” For instance, if you want your new PIN to be 5555, simply type PIN 1234 5555 and send to “321.”
You will receive a message that confirms that you have changed your transfer PIN.
How to transfer airtime from Airtel to Airtel
Now that you’ve known what the Airtel Me2U service is all about and how you can activate your Airtel transfer PIN, how then can you transfer airtime from your Airtel sim card to another Airtel sim card?
As an Airtel user, there are two ways you can send airtime to another Airtel user; through USSD code and through text message.
Through USSD code
To transfer airtime to another Airtel user using USSD code, simply:
- Pick up your phone and dial *321#
- Select the “Airtel to Airtel” option which is option 1
- You will be asked to enter the phone number of the person you want to send the airtime to. Do that and click “Send”
- You will then be asked to enter the amount of airtime you want to transfer. Enter the amount and click “Send” again
- Lastly, enter your transfer PIN (which is the new one you created) and click “Send.”
The recipient’s Airtel sim will be credited in a matter of minutes.

Through text message
To send airtime to another Airtel user using text message, simply:
- Locate the message icon on your mobile device and create a new message
- Type in the following: 2U – recipient’s phone number – airtime amount – PIN (without the hyphens) and send the message to “321.” For instance, if you want to transfer airtime of ₦500 to this phone number “07012345678” and your PIN is 5555, simply type 2U 07012345678 500 5555 and send to “321.”
The recipient’s will receive the airtime in a matter of minutes.

How to use Airtel’s airtime credit me service
The Airtel airtime credit me service is a type of service that allows an Airtel user to request for airtime from another Airtel user.
To request for airtime from another Airtel user, simply dial *148* giver’s phone number#. For instance, if the phone number of the Airtel user you want to receive the airtime from is 07012345678, it means you will have to dial *148*07012345678# on your phone. Once you do this, the giver will receive a notification of your request for them to transfer airtime to you.
Depending on who the giver is or the kind of relationship you both share, they can decide to either accept or reject your request for them to transfer airtime to you.
